I live many miles from a telephone exchange i.e. very poor download speeds ( 1 or 2 Mb) but in an area where I can receive a modest 4G signal. I have a Huawei B535 4G router. I'm thinking of simply putting in a 100Gb EE sim to use it for improved download speeds.

Is this a reasonable way to go. Are there any likely difficulties in registering the sim once I acquire it.

Hi @forgisto and welcome to the EE community

I don't see any reason why this should be a problem. Although I'm not clear what you mean by registering the SIM when you acquire it?

Is this a PAYG or pay-monthly SIM?

You may have difficulty registering a 4GEE data SIM to MyEE. It just doesn't work but that needn't stop you. You may still use it & top it up if needed if it's PAYG.

Thank you for your speedy reply.

I was intending to purchase a 100GB monthly plan.

I was wondering how you activate the sim card if it is a router rather than in a phone. Can't simply put it in my phone first as phone uses nano sim but router uses micro sim. Or will it work anyway?

That in itself should not be a problem. The 1st thing a MyEE registration will do is send a text to the no. That's OK. Most mobile routers do SMS. It's later on you might get stuck.
