Hi,

I am wondering if anyone is able to help me.

I am sorry in advance, if this question has already been answered. I did try and look but couldn't find anything for my question.

I currently have an iPhone 11 Pro Max (have had it since it launched, last year)

I got another sim card from another network and changed it into an e sim for my iPhone. But when i tried to add the e Sim it wouldn't let me carry on with the set up.

Wonder if anyone can answer the below questions.

Does the iPhone have to be unlocked for the eSim to work?

Can i use my iPhone using the Sim card from EE and using the eSim from another network at the same time?

Thank you in advance!

cl

The device has to be unlocked.

As its over 6 months old you can apply to have it unlocked now if you wish.

Hi @cljhalls

Both SIM slots can be locked, so if you bought your phone from a network, both may still be locked.

Where did you buy your phone from? You will need an unlocked iPhone to use two different networks.

Yes that is correct. an eSim works just the same as a normal sim.

If the eSIM is locked to a network then you can of course use that networks eSIM in it.

(don't know if i am allowed to say any names or not)

As Apple hasn't announced a new iPhone this year yet. Am I sticking with the iPhone 11 Pro Max until a new one is out.

I am way over 6 month limit what EE has in place.

CL

But as i have already got another contract with a different network i don't want to get another EE contract on top. But it would solve my issue.

Thanks for the help.
