In-case you don't realise, a 12month or 24month SIM-only doesn't mean you're stuck on that plan for the same period. It just means you commit to staying with EE for that time.

Rules differ slightly for 12/24month plans, but if you're currently on a handset-inclusive plan, then on 12month SIM-only at least, EE's documentation states there are no restrictions on going back to a handset plan.

Take a look at the SIM only price guide here , the upgrade rules are set out at the bottom of Page 5, and the plans are laid out on Page 7. The PDF may be easier to browse than the webpage!

Hi there,

Apologies if this has been asked before. I am looking to go Sim only as now out of contract. EE has good coverage for me so really don't want to move but I am only knocking £2 off a plan with the deals they have (trying to save a bit as already paying for other phones!). I don't need so much data as work from home mainly. Has anyone got a cheaper deal with them? I can't get a response from Webchat.

Thanks for reading.

Hi @ClareLouise66 and welcome.

You can view all of EE's SIM-only deals online here

Without knowing what plan you're on now and how much data you need, it's obviously hard to offer any meaningful advice. But assuming you're looking at a 12month plan, 250Mb of data weighs in at £13/month.

Thanks for your reply. I currently am paying £17.99 for 1 GB data and unlimited mins/texts.

I couldn't see a cheaper deal other than one for £16. I am happy to lose some data, though so will check out your link.

Thanks again.

Thank you for this information. I did see that earlier today, that you can just hook up and upgrade to a new phone within the Sim only time period. That's really helpful especially if you're not ready to commit just yet, to a new handset.

So do I just order a new Sim and put it in my phone? Do they then just change my D/D as a consequence of the new plan?

TIA

If you just want to change your current plan to a SIM-only one, and you're outside your minimum term, then you can try doing this online via myEE and follow the links to "upgrade".. or just call C/S on 150 from your phone and ask them for a change of plan to whatever one you've chosen.

There's no need for a new SIM if your existing one is working, they will often change your plan immediately while you're speaking to them. Your account and payment details have no need to change, and won't.
