I have recently upgraded my phone and have also received a new sim with a different number. Should I just use my old sim or will my new sim need activating with my original phone number? TIA

Usually if you upgrade your phone and your old sim card fits in the new phone, you just put the old sim in your new phone.

I assume that the new sim card was sent with your new phone?

If it was, then I expect EE do this in case this is a new customer, and they need a sim card to get them up and running.

Thanks, I kind of assumed that would be the case but you know what assumptions make😉

I can at least now take one of the Sims out of the phone.
