EE Sim + 4G Router constantly dropping internet connections, DHCP issue?

I recently bought an Asus 4G-AC68u Router for gaming and home use when I travel around the UK.

To test the router I used a GiffGaff sim with 80GB of Data and it was fine over the space of a week, no connection drops, however the average speed was 12Mbps.

Now today I got a EE 200GB sim card and inserted it into the router and did a full reset, the connection speed is around 70Mbps which is great.

However the internet is constantly dropping and not persisting.

Here is a screenshot of the routers 4G WAN settings (it autoconfigured the APN)

I believe the issue is at the network level (TCP/IP).

What settings would you recommend for me:

* LTE Band - (B1,B3,B7,B20.B38)
* PDP Type - (IPV4, IPV6, PPP, IPV4&IPV6)

Do the APN settings look ok?

Things I have done:

* Upgraded the firmware
* Tested another 4G sim (Giffgaff - O2, Virgin Media - EE)
* Checked the signal, full strength and line of sight with transmitter

Is EE kicking my router off its network because its not an offical EE 4G router?

Any ideas

Try PDP Type= IPV4&IPV6.

Ok I tried setting the PDP to IPV4 and IPV6 but it refused to establish a connection with EE.

I had to revert it back to IPV4 and restart before it would re-establish a WAN connection

Its weird,

I setup the SIM in a spare phone and did USB tethering/bridge to my gaming PC and did not have any connectivity issues.

Is there anyway to emulate the settings the Oneplus 3T phone would use when interacting with a EE 4G tower?

I am wondering if the router is just not configured right, but the configuration works with other providers like O2 ok?

Also the DHCP seems to be refreshed / WAN goes down exactly every hour at 3 mins past

I changed my router to a TPLINK MR200 and connection has been more stable.

Returned the ASUS router

Hi,

I am having almost the exact same problems with my 4G-AC68U.

I was initially using it with a BT Fibre connection with no problems at all but as I will be moving where there is no BT line, I bought a EE sim to access the internet via 4g.

The connection is dropping over 10 times a day and even seems to drop the LAN at the same time.

I dont really want to go and buy another router so keen to understand why its doing it and if there is any settings changed on my router.

It disconnects and then I can see the 'Your IPS's dhcp is not functioning properly' and then after a minute or so its connected and working again.

Very frustrating.

I would really appreciate it if someone has a thought on how it can be fixed without having to resort to buying another router and crossing my fingers.

You may wish to do a search online with the below search terms.

"WAN Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function properly." asus

It seems to be a common problem and may have a solution or workaround by now which could involve a different version of firmware.
