Hi @treez

So long as the SIM will physically fit, you can use it in whatever device you choose. From a quick Google search, the router uses a Nano-size SIM, the Samsung J3 is a micro-size, so you'll need an adapter of some kind.

If the phone is locked to O2, then you will only be able to use an O2 SIM with it - or will need to get it unlocked to accept a non-O2 SIM.

Hi,
I have a home broadband internet account with EE. I have a 4GEE-router-Q57Z (Model B625-261). It is a 100GB account.

I also have a Samsung SM-J330FN smart phone. This smart phone now has no account associated with it, as i didnt use it for a long time. So i cant use the smart phone. When i used it i was with o2.

Now i wonder if i can use the sim card in my EE router with my Samsung smart phone?

I need this as i now need to do zoom meetings when i am out on the road.

(Incidentally, i also have a small "bar of soap" size mobile phone which is on a EE pay as you go account. I wish to keep this phone as its nice and small and easy to carry about, so its my main phone)

Thankyou.

I think my wifi sim has different sim card sizes within it......is it ok to just turn off the router and take out the sim card so i can check it to see if it can be adjusted to a micro size sim card...or can this damage the router?

Also, do you know where i can go to get the smartphone unlocked from O2, so i can get EE service instead using my wifi account?

I hope you're well and having a nice weekend, are you up to much?

You can take the SIM out without damaging the router, that's not an issue.

To get the O2 phone unlocked you'll need to have a chat with O2.

Thanks, i guess to get unlocked from 02 i have to go in to an 02 shop?

I guess they arent going to be too receptive to the idea.

Is there no place i can email to get it unlocked over the web?

Another option is to look into buying an EE smartphone...........but they never seem to do "pick up from store", and i am always out at work when they come to deliver.

Presumably i can just buy an ee smartphone that uses the same size sim card as the one in my router, and then i can use that smartphone.?.....Also presumably EE wont send me a duplicate sim card so that i can just leave the sim card permanently in my wifi router...and also have one in an EE smartphone?

In all this i am assuming that since i pay monthly for a ee wifi account (with a "mobile router") , that i wouldnt need to pay any more to extend this to a smartphone aswell?

I'm not sure how O2 work when it comes to unlocking, however you should be able to request this no problem.

We can't send a replica SIM I'm afraid.

If you would like a phone from us then you can pop into one of our stores and they'll look into your options.

EE don't sell phones without a subscription of some kind - be that a monthly contract or PAYG with a compulsory initital topup.

If you buy an EE PAYG phone, you can't avoid the initial compulsory topup, but what you do with that topup & SIM after you've bought it, is entirely upto you.
