Getting Double of Half download speeds on 4G Device(s) in the same location, same Network and over several tests could be a typical indication of either 2x2 or 4x4 Mimo kicking in over the Network which could effectively double your Speed in each case.

Which Phone model do you have

I have a Huawei B535 4g WiFi router on EE and an EE SIM on my phone. I get up to 60 meg down on my phone but never more than 30 meg down on the WiFi router. I'm sitting right next to the router so I should get the same speeds. Is there a reason why I get such slow speeds on my WiFi router? I e tried swapping the aim cards but I get the exactly the same results. Always double the speed on my phone.

Perhaps the hardware in your phone is newer and connects via a newer protocol capable of higher bandwidths? 🤓

30 Mbps should be sufficient for three streams of 4K UHD according to Disney+ (approx. 7.7 Mbps per stream) so it's probably not worthwhile to upgrade a 4G router, or up to a 5G router unless there are other compelling reasons to do so.

One such compelling reason might be that you find yourself waiting a long time to download something but even then it may be better to tether to the phone, or hotspot from the phone unless this happens frequently.

A person with a lot of time available might order a new 4G router online, check how it performs, and decide whether or not to return it within the 14 day cooling off period. The choice of 5G routers ranges from approx. GBP 320 for a D-Link, through GBP 420 for a fixed or portable Huawei, to GBP 500 to GBP 700 for a Netgear M5 so I view these as prohibitively priced unless there is a true requirement.
