This issue still occurs - its not network etc but a hardware/firmware issue on the routers.

EE need to fix this.

the devices loose Wifi connection to the router.

Nothing to do with the network.

My old Huawei was fine till is fully died - the replacement EE one I bought had issue from day one, despite firmware updates and manually setting the channel etc.

I believe its due to channel/.band interference with these devices.

They are supposed to handle up to 32 devises - they cannot handle more than one.

This is likely a manufacturing hardware issue with contamination in the factory. not being fully clean. But EE will do nothing about it.

Hi @Dupes,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Which router are you using?

Do all connected devices drop the WiFi connection at the same time or individually?

If you hover over the WiFi indicator on your laptop when you experience a drop, what does it show for the connection status?

What is it you think may be causing interference with your router?

This is a common devise issue on EE devices.

The device is EE MiFi Mini router. Purchase this year from PC World.

The WiFi connection to all devises connected is dropped simultaneously.

The router show no issue - all light blue and steady.

Any of the devices whe you hover or click on the Wifi status icon show 'Not Connected'.

As explained, this is an issue with EE branded MiFi devices that drop the WiFi connection.

If you manually click on yur laptop etc to re-connect, it usually takes a few attenpts to re-establish the connection.

Or alternatively, becuase they are set to 'auto-connect' then if you leave it for a few minutes, all devices will re-connect themselves withing a few minutes, and you are back with WiFi until the next time it drops.

The is a hardware (design, component or quality control/manufacturing) or firmware issue.

Yes, my Router firmware is up to date.

I have applied the below settings which reduce how often this occurs, but does not irradicate it.

Log in to the web page for the router - http://192.168.1.1

Go to settings at the top, the on the side menu – Wifi/Basic

Set as 2.4GHz

Then click on ‘Advanced’ on the left hand menu under WiFi

On the drop downs I set :

Channel – to 1, 6 or 11 (11 probably best, have tried them all)

Band: 802.11b/g/n

AP Isolation : Off

Bandwidth: 20MHz

Also tried 5GHz as that will have less interference, and set the Advanced options as ‘Auto’ for channel and bandwidth. This seems better still, however I have devices on my WiFi network that are not 5GHz compliant so I can't use this really.

Although other people have experienced WiFi dropouts, we can't assume they have the same root cause.

You mentioned you suspect the issue is caused by interference, is there something in particular, in or nearby your home that you think could be causing the issue?

Have you tried experimenting with where your router is located to see if it helps?

James

>From reading the many threads on this issue and online research, the
suggested issue of interference came up, and I researched this - this is
where the details of changing the 2.4GHz settings came from, as these is a
busy band etc.

Indeed amending these on 2.4 from the default 'auto' for channel and band
width did reduce the incidence of drop out.

Router location is simply not a factor because the location is identical (as
is the devices and their respective locations) as it was with the old Huawei
MiFi router (essentially the same sort of router by Huawei brand) which
never once in year of use had this issue. However, for the sake of ruling
anything out, yes the router have been moved nearer and further away from
devices.

Also note that leaving my phone (which is on WiFi) and other laptop further
away from my work Laptop (which is the one use all day) also helped reduce
incidence - certainly having my phone in my pocket as I sit at my laptop
seem to lead to more drops.

Again, this never occurred with the old MiFi router - in fact I used to put
my phone on the desk next to the laptop without issue.

This all of this shouts interference issue with the EE router - especially
that moving other devices away and changing router setting to reduce
interference issues improves (though does not cure) things.

Within hours of using the EE one this started, and of course some googling
shows is a common fault on EE branded MiFi router hardware.
