So is there a way to get an EE tech to look at this so I know if they have a viable wifi extender solution or to give feedback on why the LAN extension is not working with the 4G mobile hub.

Thanks in advance

Shaun

I have had a 4G mobile hub for my broadband since I got it I have found that the wifi signal strength within my building is limited.

I read about the EE wifi extender but can't seem to find anywhere in my EE account to purchase one or confirm it works with the mobile hub.

Has anybody used the extender with the EE 4g mobile hub and how does it perform.

I tried extending it with a LAN cable from the 4g hub to a tp link box and then onto a third party wifi device but that just kills the 4g hub wifi immediately.

Thanks in advance.

Hi There,

Thanks for your reply.

I am doing a barn conversion that involves 4 barns, our 4G hub is in barn 1 where we have our current living accommodation. Barn 2 is the kitchen which is almost finished. Barn 1 and barn 2 do not share the same electrical circuit at the moment until we convert barn 1.

I imagine that any powerline solution would need to share the wiring loops.

With the current setup I connected a Lan cable into the 4G hub which has two slots, the cable then ran 20 metres into the kitchen where it went into a - P-Link TL-SG105S, 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Network Switch

and then a 1metre LAN cable went into a 'TP-Link TL-WA1201 Access Point Dual Band AC1200, Supports Passive PoE, Supports Access Point, Range Extender, Multi-SSID, and Client modes',

it is somewhat alien talk for me so I posted the full descriptions of the two products so you might understand any mistake I made.

So when the LAN cable is plugged into the EE 4G hub the network light immediately goes yellowy / orange and the wifi is killed. I thought it would be simple.

Yes, Powerline adapters need to be on the same mains distribution fuse & consumer unit. That's not necessarily the same ring main.

Sorry, switches are alien to me too.

I believe the switch allows the ethernet connection to be fed in to a port from the internet source and then multiple ethernet cables can utilise the additional ports, this one is just a 4 port hub / switch so one in and 3 out.
