Connecting to Nest App via Huawei 525 router with EE Sim

I have a Huawei 525 router with an EE SIM.

It works well for everything, including my Nest remote thermostat.

The problem is that my Nest thermostat won't connect to the App.

I have tried my router with a friend's SIM and it connects.

I have tried my friends SIM with my router and it connects.

There seems to be an incompatibility between the EE SIM and the Huawei router.

Can anyone suggest anything I might try, short of buying a new router?

I'd recommend contacting Nest Support for help with the Nest app.
