Hi @swardley1

You can't generally do this, intentionally so.

Far better to report the problem you have, either using the fault reporting tool or calling C/S and speaking to the tech agents, and then get any network faults on particular sites, resolved.

I have an EE Home 4G router 2 (the Huawei) with an external antenna (installed by EEs contractors) and what started off well with 35Mbps download / 20Mbps is now sub 5Mbps download and about 12Mbps up. It has degregaded fairly consistently over time.

Downloading HuaCtrl, I've found there are three towers the router is switching between. By using B3 1800, I can get it down to two cells (5291776 and 4503296) ... one of which works extremely well. However, it keeps flipping onto the cell that doesn't work well. Is there a way of locking a router to a cell or a type of router that gives you this capability?

Any advice welcome.

Hi Bristolian,

Thank you for replying, that's much appreciated.

I did use the fault reporting tool and apparently there has been a fault in the area but no date on when it will be resolved. Fortunately using the HuaCtrl Pro I was able to lock to Band 3 1800Mhz and a specific cell - which gives me a steady 12 Mbps down / 21 Mbps upload according to Ofcoms network speed test.

I'll wait until they get things resolved before I take the freq and cell lock off. For now, I'm pretty happy.

On a personal note, I thought I would also mention that as an utter newbie, this has been fascinating. I learnt more on the spectrum, signal strength and SINR than I expected and also I found a number of fascinating services along the way.

None more so than cellmapper.net

This, of course, led me to find another cell tower with a direct line of sight from another provider that I wasn't expecting. A new Huawei B535 ordered, new data SIM, directional atenna which in this case I'll install myself. It has been a lot of fun and I've very much been bitten by the bug,
