Many thanks @Chris_B Much appreciated. Both of us were sending data to the same server but from different connections. However, the data he was sending was downloading onto my laptop and visa versa. So I'm thinking that by downloading each others data is causing a usage surge. I'll try doing it differently next week and see if it makes a diffference.

I have had a monthly contract for nearly two years and have not gone over my data usage (5GB per month) before, but this month I used it up in 1 day and had to purchase an extra 10GB of which I have used 2GB in 3 days.

I'm concerned something is causing this rather than my usual data usage. I did have someone running video uploads using their own Mini Wifi next to me and we were connected to the same system, so could this be causing the issue?
