The company to which I may move does not supply a router so I either need
to buy one or use one I already have. BT are likely to ask for their hub to
be returned so want to see if I can use the EE router before buying a new
one.

Would really appreciate any advice on this. I have a 4GeeRouter (model HH70VB) which was supplied when I had a mobile broadband contract. I never used the router as I had a TP LInk router already linked to an external antennae.

I am now lucky enough to get my broadband through fibre to the premises and am considering switching from BT to a broadband only provider and porting my landline number to a VOIP provider.

If I do this I would like to use the WAN port on the 4 Gee router to connect to the fibre, but I have never been able to get this to work.

Does anyone know if I need to get the router unlocked or is there a setting that I can amend by logging in to it?

I can't use the TP Link for this purpose as its being used at another location

Any advice gratefully received |

What's the point in doing this? What are you actually hoping to achieve?

If you want to 'test' the 4GEE router simply insert a sim card (you could use the one from your phone), attach it to your PC and run a speed test It receives it's signal strength via data, not the phone line so I am struggling to understand why you are wanting to attach it to another type of router. FWIW my 4GEE router gets speeds of 60-90Mbps/22Mbps download/upload though I am less than a mile from the nearest mast.

If you want to use the EE Home Router solely as a WiFi router only bypassing its own modem & SIM, it will be OK to connect its WAN port to your FTTP modem/ONT.

Thank you - that is what I thought but unfortunately I have never been able
to get it to work. Do you know if there are any settings I have to adjust
by logging in to the router or does it need to be unlocked?

Much appreciate any advice !
