Try reserving the Mesh's IP Addy as 192.168.1.2 (currently 192.168.1.23) in the DHCP of the Brightbox

Routing between EE and TP-Link Deco networks

Hi

I've installed a TP-Link Deco mesh network, which has 3 units, one of which is hard wired to my EE router.

All works great, except the 2 networks don't co-exist happily, or at least not in both directions.

The original EE network is on 192.168.1.x and the DECO is 192.168.68.x.

From the DECO network I can see the EE network, but not the other way round. This matters because my NAS box is now hardwired to the DECO network so that all my devices can see it, but I backup the NAS box via a laptop plugged in to the EE router (DECO has only 2 physical ports, both used). Wireless does work but takes a long time.

So what I think I need is for the EE router (which is actually Brightbox) to route any 192.168.68 traffic via the base DECO unit, which is currently 192.168.1.23, but that's probably dynamic.

Any clues? My other options are to live with the slower WiFi backups, or buy another router and add it to the TP-Link network.

Hope I've explained myself and hope someone can shed some light.

Graham

If you set up the TP Link in Access point mode then you will have everything on the same network.

You may lose some functionality from the Deco, but it depends if you need that.
