Everything up to the test socket within the master socket is OR's property. Only OR may move it. You should contact EE & request that it be moved & they will get OR on the job. There will be a charge of £50 for this work.

Hi everyone,

Long question here.

I live in a housing association flat and I have the basic EE fibre.

It is fed through a very old early type of NTE5 socket which has the old 1980s BT logo on it. The wire leading to it comes down from the building's loft, though my door frame, then dangles along the floor to the socket which is installed in an inconvenient place on the hallway skirting board.

I would like the socker moved into my lounge where it will be near my TV.

I assume Openreach aren't doing any of this stuff at the moment due to lockdown, but for future reference, has anyone has this type of work done before? Is the fact that the property is a rented flat rather than a privately owned house likely to cause any problems?

Thanks

@wks1978 You’ll have to get permission first from the landlord. After that it’s down to you to find anyone who can do this. There is no law saying Openreach have to do this within you home. There is only the requirement of the phone line being a set height outside the property to the phone mast and that’s only when it’s past the property boundary line.

have a look at THIS
