Landlines is indicating a message has been left, dial 1571 to be told we don't have a messaging service

Could you try leaving a voicemail on your landline from another phone, then listen to the message, delete it and see if this re-occurs please?

we can't access the voicemails on the landline, that's the problem. There is a message there but when we dial 1571 it says we don't have a messaging service

You need to call CS to activate the 1571 service on your line.

In addition to the above good advice, hope it's ok if I ask some sanity check questions.

Have you ever previously activated the 1571 service?

Have you ever previously retrieved landline voicemail from 1571 and it has recently stopped working?

What is the make and model of your landline phone and does it have an in-built or manufacturer-supported voicemail service?

You may receive SMSs on 1571 using BT's Text-to-Voice service even if you have never used 1571 before or even activated it.
