The online list price of Full Fibre Max 900 is £60 pm. So with the 10% discount for EE mobile custs that brings it down to £54 pm. So what you've been told is correct.

Hi,

Thinking of taking out the EE Fibre Max 900 service (FTTP) but wish to know if EE block certain websites like BT, TalkTalk et al do? I was under the impression they do, but when i did a quick check using my EE mobile as an internet hotspot, nothing was blocked. Would appreciate clarification on this.

Also I understand EE allocate a dynamic IP address to fixed line broadband customers but is this a 'sticky' IP address or does it change immediately after doing a router reboot?

Many thanks

P

EE, Voda, 3 and O2 do not block Websites on there Mobile Data Networks, assuming Content Lock is off, some MVNO may do.

Again on Mobile Networks the IP Address is not fixed it's dynamicly assigned.

EE Broadband is basically BT so like most of the fixed Broadband providers it will or can Block certain Websites and the IP is normally static although they do reserve the right to change this at any time for non Commercial or non business customers

EE block no websites on their fixed Home BB unless mandated by a Court Order (IWF does not come into it). They will on mobile when you have Content Lock ON.

The Home BB public IP is dynamic but fairly sticky.

Thanks guys.

Next question, has anyone - as an existing EE mobile customer - managed to get the Fibre Max 900 service for less than £54/m? Because the price shows up as £54/m online whether an EE customer or not and when I called up EE Sales to query this, they said they can't go lower than that.

No, the price of £54/m for Fibre max 900 applies to both EE and non-EE mobile customers.

During the online ordering process if i enter my EE mobile number, i see the following:

And if i enter my other non-EE (Vodafone) number, then the following:

I have a valid EE 20% student discount code, I'm guessing this cannot be applied to a fixed line broadband order as there seems to be nowhere to put the discount code? I see the gift/voucher box when trying to place a dummy mobile order but nothing for fixed line broadband.

Going back to your pics, despite saying no saving, if you look at the standard prices on the EE Broadband website, as @XRaySpeX has already mentioned, the prices you have been quoted do indeed include the 10% discount.

As for your 20% discount, it is impossible to negotiate online, but if you can find lower prices for that service elsewhere you may be able to negotiate a deal by calling the Broadband CS Team.

Have you checked if it is available at your property?

Thanks Mustrum.

I'm already with BT on their 330/50 FTTP service so can definitely get FTTP on EE (EE online checker shows availability). I have a 4 port ONT installed.

When I called up EE sales team earlier today, the best deal for the Fibre 900 service they could offer me was £49.99/m...but that was with BT!!! I was a bit surprised that the EE agent was able to order a BT service as I thought EE and BT had separate billing/ordering systems, despite EE being owned by BT. But the best price for the EE FTTP service was £54/m and the agent wouldn't budge on that.

But anyway i don't want to stay with BT anymore, mainly because of the website blocking - yes I know there's ways around it using a VPN but I would prefer to use an ISP which don't block websites in the first place, so EE sounds like a good option.

I will call EE again tomorrow and see if they'll accept that Student Beans 20% discount code over the phone. I suspect not but you never know!

Hi @psychopomp2 ,

The below reference gives a good summary of some of the sites which are blocked, some of these due to requirements placed upon large ISPs.

If you are unhappy with BT's blocking of certain websites, it's likely those blocks might soon come to EE if they do not apply already in the below reference. Your best bet might be a small ISP with an emphasis on freedom and privacy, and I'm not sure if such a service provider exists. Good luck!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_websites_blocked_in_the_United_Kingdom
