Would it be possible to port from virgin media broadband to ee broadband?

No, that's the 1 ISP that it's not easy to migrate between. They are diff networks. It all has to be done manually by you. You'll need to:

Apply to EE for BB.
After accepted & when gone live contact VM to cancel your BB contract with them & deactivate it.

May not apply, but if the property has not had a telephone line for some time, a connection charge may be applicable for ADSL or equivalent (FTTP may be different, if relevant).

This is another of the oddities of moving from Virgin Media to an Openreach reseller (BT in my case).

Your new provider should have online advice, e.g. https://www.bt.com/broadband/switch/

For any EE BB product other than FTTP there will be a charge of £50 for an eng visit to install a BT-based landline if there isn't already 1 present.
BT Consumer is not EE & their advice may not necessarily apply to moves to EE. General industry-wide advice can be found in ThinkBroadBand: Cease & Provide
