Your calls/text come from your phone tariff allowance. You set this up via the wear app on your phone.

Hello

I am thinking of getting this smart watch to use with my S9+ and my EE sim only account.

If I purchase the watch from John Lewis is there any issue connecting to my EE account (as watch not purchased through EE shop) ?
