Why is trying to upgrade a contract that has expired

I just want a new contract and phone ,I can’t get the phone I want by clicking but I was offered it used but still having no joy, I’ve had a contract for 2 years and I’ve been waiting to get the Samsung note , if I can’t I want to cancel but even that I’m struggling with , please please help or I will just cancel direct debit
