Can't use apple watch data with SIM only plan

I don't seem to be able to use cellular data on my apple watch (see screenshots).

I've got a 30-day data pack on SIM only.

Any ideas?

Watch plan for £7 a month? No, I switched from GifGaff so I could use cell data on my apple watch.

Screenshot text says:

The watch has to have its own data plan but you need a sim only/pay monthly plan on EE for it to be linked to.

You can't just have a EE watch plan with no EE phone plan.

The watch plan is £7 a month on top of the phone plan.

Ohhhh! That makes sense. The lady I spoke to from EE support didn't tell me this vital piece of information.

Any idea how I add that to my existing pack?

Do you have a sim only or pay monthly?

Or are you on Pay As You Go?

Sim only… At least I think!

I brought my phone from Apple directly. I got an EE sim and signed up for the £15 / 30-day pack with 8Gb data.

No you are on a PAYG sim which you pay for packs on a monthly basis it appears. As currently EE don't sell 30 day sim only sims as you can only get these in stores which are currently closed.

You won't be able to add a watch plan to this.

Oh heck. So just to confirm the only way to get access to cell data on my apple watch through EE is a "sim only" plan (which I presume is a year contract?)

EE sells 30 day sim only contracts and 12 month sim only contracts.

30 day sim only is you can basically give your 30 days notice anytime. But these can only be bought in an EE store.

Their 12 month sim only contracts you can buy online but these have a 12 month minimum term.

The 12 month Sim Only contracts will work with the watch data plan for £7 a month.

If you just want to use data and dont want to call on your watch then you can just connect it to your phone and use it that way but then you'll need your phone with you at all times to use the data on the watch.

The watch data plan allows you to make calls and data on the watch away from your phone.

Is this the thing you're talking about?

I specifically switched to EE so I could leave my phone at home while out running and still get texts and calls.

These are sim only plans but not 30 day ones.

They are either 12 month or 24 month plans.

But will still work with the watch.
