EE Credit Check

I applied for a phone contract on the 17th November over the phone. After going through everything he said they can’t offer me a contract as my credit check came back as declined. I am 20 years old with no bad credit, and on Experian my credit score is perfect. On clear score my credit score is green and labelled ‘on good ground’ so I have no idea why I would get declined. The man said to send an email to the credit team (as they’ve been having lots of issues with credit checks coming back as declined) and they’ll get back to me in 48 hours, and alas, they haven’t. Anyone have any idea how I could contact them or what I can do? I am extremely frustrated.

Hi @Adamkenzitt

Not wanting to burst your bubble but your credit score is a meaningless sales gimmik.

You need to be strong in some of the following areas.

Are you in the electoral roll (preferably more 3+ years) at your current address?
Have you lived at your address for more than 3 years?
Do you own or rent?
Do you have a land line?
Have you ever paid any bills (which report to your credit record) late in the last 3-6 years?

All these will be checked against your records via more than one credit agency.

When you apply for any firm of credit each company has its own credit assessment criteria.deoending on the product and risk.

EE won't tell you why you failed for obvious reasons, but if you need to speak to them go via EE contact us page.

I can happily fail a credit check despite being 63 years old and having worked all my life.

I'm opted out of the full electoral roll, my details don't show to credit reference agencies, and I don't have anything on credit hand have not had for perhaps 10 years. I'm a ghost to these agencies !

Wife went to rent a car for a few days while hers was being repaired. Same place she's rented from for the last 8-9 years, was turned down as she is also opted out and has no credit. She pays various bills like council tax, electricity, gas, TV license and so on. I pay the EE bills, we have broadband as well as phones. Not enough it seems. She's lived at the same address for 37 years, I've been here for 23. We own the house, mortgage was paid off 4 years ago.

But, who wants to be in debt anyway.
