Is it possible to buy a tablet outright with EE and use a data only sim from a rolling month to month option. Specifically looking at the Lenovo M8 without the wish to have a long term contract obligation

You can buy your chosen tablet from any retailer you want, and then get an EE PAYM dataplan SIM-only, yes.

If you're looking to buy the tablet outright, there's no advantage in buying it from EE compared with any other retailer - even if you could.
