If i upgrade my Samsung Galaxy 46mm watch for a new one can the original watch be passed down to my son and be paired to his s9 phone and just used via bluetooth.?

I presume he would be able to use all the features including voice calls and messaging through the watch although be it using them via bluetooth connection rather than the watch's standalone connection that I can currently use as it's on it's own plan.?
