Where did you yourself get this device itself originally? Did you buy it yourself new direct from EE or from a 3rd-party reseller or is it 2nd-hand? The unlocking process & costs are different.

Sorry if this has come up before but I am going around in circles and can't get to talk to anybody at EE!

3 weeks or so ago I upgraded my iphone8 to an iphone12, both phones were and are contracted with EE for 24months. The iphone8 reached the end of the 24month period and I gave it to my wife who uses Orange, when entering the Orange SIM the phone basically says it is locked and the SIM cannot be used.

From reading the website it suggests that an iphone would have been unlocked after 6months on a monthly contract so either I am misunderstanding something or I need to do something else.

To be clear, I do not want to unlock my new phone but want to unlock the old phone for which has ended its 24month contract so in my mind should be free to use with any network.

Help please 🙂
