just tried it on the phone now took us 50 minutes then we were about to finish they told us it will cost £99 ... so after all this wait and sweat we decided not to do it. and even if paid they weren't sure if it would do the job abroad...

We never charge more than £8.99 to unlock an EE device. Have you followed the guide in Unlocking your EE mobile phone or device?

Hi James my device is a 4GEE mini... we were on the phone i even put my abroad sim card in it ... they said hopefully it will work and asked us if we are ok to pay £99 ... definitely not we said .it is a pay as you go 4gee wifi device

If you are the original owner, there is no charge to unlock it. Please see How to unlock an EE pay as you go phone or device for more details.

Hi James, yes we are the owners of the wifi dongle. we have an account to top up the device but not sure if it means registering with them. we bought this machine brand new from Argos a few months ago maybe it causes the trouble i dont know. the person on the phone wasn't sure what he was doing really was trying to send us messages thinking that it was linked to a phone to verify us although we told him ours is a 4GEE wifi mini so we use it as a router not linked to a phone. i think he was a new bee anyway thank you for your help

@ayca21 : You can still receive & send texts from a mobile router. Just look for the SMS section.

To unlock an EE device not bought directly from EE you need to call Customer Services on +44 800 956 6000 (option 2, option 4) to put you in touch with the Unlocking Team to request an Unlock Code. You will be asked for your email addy. They will take payment (of £8.99) from any valid UK bank card.

Once the process has been started you will receive an email from the Unlocking Team to process the unlock. It can take up to 10 days to complete the unlock.
