Missing photos

I've only just recently realised alot of my photos have disappeared from gallery. I had over 1.5k photos in my gallery and now there is only 300+ I have not deleted these and nor is there any in my deleted folder, does anyone know what could of happened and any solutions please?

Do you have a memory card in your phone? What kind of phone is it?

I'm not sure tbh, I've had the phone a couple of yrs now didn't bother upgrading this time.

It's a hauwei mate lite 20.

Do the photos show up when you try and transfer them to a computer, @Mandz2?

A search suggests that the phone is capable of supporting a microsd card so I would recommend physically looking to see if one is present. https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_mate_20_lite-9284.php
