Samsung Galaxy S21 Battery Life

Has anyone else had issues with the battery life with the S21? I've had the phone less than a week and found myself needing to charge it twice a day when compared to the A70/A71 battery, which only needed to be charged once every 1-2 days

What does the battery usage app say?

At what % are you charging your phone? You might be charging it when you don't need to charge it. Even at lower % it has hours remaining.

It's started showing how long until the battery dies but originally said Learning Usage Patterns. I thought after this period had ended, the battery would return to normal but hasn't.

Normally I charge it at night and it's less than 20% and during the afternoon when it gets to around 15%.

I find when it gets to 7%, it says it has over an hour left but really lasts less than half an hour

Wow, you must be a very heavy phone user to nearly kill the phone twice over in a day. What are you using? tiktok, youtube, facebook?

I do use YouTube quite a bit during the day but I'm using it the same way as I did with the A70 and A71 and that never needed charging during the middle of the day. I was wondering if the battery for S21 was worse than the A70/A71 although I was under the impression that the S Series is supposed to be better

Typically I spend a lot of the day playing YouTube videos on and off in the background but I used to do this with the A70 and A71 and didn't have these issues. In fact I briefly had the A12 and used it the same way and despite that phone's shortcomings, the battery was never an issue. I also find just scrolling Twitter the morning with this phone, I lose about 5% in 15 mins

I have, turned off adaptive brightness and put it to a low setting. Tbh I'm starting to think the S21 is a joke of a phone with its awful battery life and my partner put it face down on a table and the screen as a couple of very noticeable scratches on it!

Oh god, so you can't even return it.

It will likely be the pre-installed screen protector (that's plastic) that has gained the scratches, unless you took it off.

I don't know why that battery life seems so poor, take screenshots and post it here if possible - it does sound like either something is using massive amounts of battery or your phones battery is faulty (take it to a Samsung store)

galaxy s21 am i reading it right has a 4000 mAh

galaxy A70 4500mAh

galaxy A71 4500mAh

That is quite a bit of difference.

Try letting the battery go as flat as possible. Where the battery indicator usually goes orange let it go till the battery indicator goes red . then recharge fully.

This has previously given me more battery life..

The Samsung Galaxy S21 does have 4000mHa battery.

Two of their cheapo entry level phones the

A32 5g £229 has a 5000mHa battery

A42 5g £319 has a 5000mHa battery.

What are they playing at 4000mHa Not fit for purpose as you are finding out.

probably saves a billiometer of thickness on the sleek design.

@MrAngree Battery size matters yes but battery optimisation for the S21 should make it last longer.

The software helps you don't always need a big battery size

It is fit for purpose but the OP is obviously a heavy user.

Admittedly I am a heavy user but I was also a heavy user of the A70/A71 and the battery life for those phones were around 25% longer than the S21. So the S21 isn't fit for purpose if you're an extensive user of the phone, the A series is better suited for those who want to use their phone for longer than 5 hours a day.

i preferred the older phones with a removable battery , when you could just buy a couple

of extra battery's ... didn't matter so much about battery life them days.........i have

an old Samsung j3 with a removable battery .

You say that but you have been asked several times what does your battery usage state which apps are using up the battery to which you haven't responded.

There could a be rogue app.

Have you had a major update on it and if so have you preformed a factory restore?

I have previously stated that YouTube is the primary app that is used throughout the day, as it was for previous phones with it coming at over 50% of battery usage, second to that is Chrome. I've turned off adaptive brightness, turned off background location usage for all apps, tried switching to low power mode, waited for the battery to learn usage patterns, optimised the device several times and performed two factory resets.

Just out of interest have you tried smartube its a real light weight version of you-tube.

i have it on my android tv boxes. this has no adverts and might take a bit less power from

your device.
