Hi - on 22nd November I took delivery of a new Pixel 4a. I've started to notice though, that when the screen is it any kind of angle, a pink banding appears on any app or screen with a white background. It's distracting enough to be noticeable when reading text. I know colour change can occur on OLED screens but I've never noticed it like this before.

I'd be keen to get a repair or a replacement, whichever is easiest to get it resolved but I'm trying to avoid being without a phone for any length of time, as I don't have a spare. With it being within 30 days of receiving a phone, does anyone know if a replacement is likely and by any chance, could one be received before the old one is returned? I haven't taken out any insurance products.

You’ll can ask at the store if they have a loan phone until your device is fixed. You’ll only get a loan phone at a store.

Thanks @Chris_B , that's great. I think I read somewhere that the loan phone option wasn't available at the moment.

Looks like either way, I'm facing a period of time without a phone while it is assessed and replaced/repaired.

@maurice28 Good to see you are following my advice from earlier 😉

However, if you are desperate for a phone in the mean time, just go to Asda and pay £10 for a cheap phone, which acts as a back up for if you have a problem.

It is not a perfect solution, but until I got this pixel 4a, then I was using a £10 phone for over a year.

You are looking at potentially a two week turn around on any repairs for a phone.

Regards

Mark

Thanks both. Just to update, I called 150 and as I am within 30 days, they have sent a new, replacement phone to arrive today and I hand the old one back to the courier. Can't argue with that!

@maurice28 Excellent news, the 4a is not perfect, but to have pink banding was a massive fault in the phone, and it would have messed up even further as time went on.

As I am saying to other people, make sure you get any electrical equipment up to room temperature before plugging an electrical charge into it. The google pixel 4a is waterproof to a standard, but that is when it is climatized.

Regards

Mark

So the replacement has come and looks the same, starting to think it's just the way the phone looks, or my eyes! Going to see if I can get a second replacement, don't know the chances!
