Iphone 8 upgrade to iphone 12 Pro - sent a new SIM do I need it?

Just received my iphone 12 pro after upgrading from iphone 8. Sure it said I didnt need a new sim but have been sent one. Lady on the phone said I can use either? Does it matter which I use?

If your old SIM fits in the new iPhone, you can continue to use it.

If you would like to use the new SIM you would need to register this in your My EE account.
