Hi Chris_B I unpaired it from the watch app on the phone. Then transferred everything from the old phone to the new phone and finally did a factory reset on both the old watch & phone before giving it to hubby.

I then paired new watch to new phone which will now take/receive calls independently of the phone. However hubby's watch will not, but says it is linked to a sim no.

PS I see the watch is still attached to my account. Can I just swap out the watches or do I start again? Also, any idea why my new watch works fine? I'm guessing I'm going to have to give EE a call. Thanks for your help by the way!

Hi, I had a new iphone & apple watch, so unpaired & factory reset my own phone and cellular watch and passed them on to my husband. They were then paired and updated to his account.

I can make and receive calls on my new watch independent of my phone, but when trying to set up an esim number for hubby's watch he's told it's already linked to a line and do we want to unlink it? He is unable to call/receive calls independently on it though.

My question is, how is my watch able to work independently of my phone if his watch is the one linked to an esim but he cannot use his watch for calls? Also, what do I need to do to enable his watch (and maybe link my new watch)?

This is baffling to say the least 🙄 Jill

the old watch is linked to your EE account and unpairing from your Apple account will not remove it from your EE account.

when you unpair a Apple cellular watch from an iPhone you are given the option to retain the cellular connection what did you do at this point ?

Did you upgrade your watch or start a brand new plan?

Thank you @James_B Well I think I've managed it the wrong way as I haven't officially done anything. I just substituted one watch with another, seems to work ok as well. What it means though is my old watch is still connected to my account. Should I just start the process again from the beginning?

Does your husband have an Apple Watch plan set up on his EE account?

Did you buy your new watch from a third party?

I’m going to reset both watches and start again I think 🤔 Thanks all for your welcome and help & I’ll hopefully post a thumbs up if I can get everything sorted.
