I guess there's nothing to lose by trying, but I can't see how a PAYG SIM would activate the embedded one? They are two separate SIMs

Forgetting for 5 months killed mine... CS have tried everything

So I have an iPad Pro 9.7" (2016) which per this matrix here: https://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/cellular/ has an Embedded Apple SIM (NOT an eSIM)

It stopped working and after a lot of back and forth with customer services trying things and resetting things it now has a mobile number of 00000000000 and effectively, is bricked. I can still insert a SIM into the external slot so not all is lost, but the SIM embedded into the hardware (not removable) is dead and can no longer be revived. Bit of a shame as it devalues the iPad if I resell it, and it was useful being able to just go into Mobile Data and throw £1 at it if I was somewhere without my phone and needed to look something up.

I finally got a very helpful advisor (third time lucky) who did everything he could but then did some more digging and found out that EE have discontinued support for the Apple SIM hence it doesn't work.

Pretty poor stuff by whoever made that decision at EE... iPads are not like phones, they are good for more than 4 years, more like 7 at least, and should be supported on the network for longer.

@Cloudane They are still supporting it. The best way to get this sorted is to get a PAYG sim and use that to activate the embedded sim. To keep a PAYG sim activated you need to use it at least one every 3 months this will apply to an embedded sim that’s using PAYG.
