Apple Watch unlock?

My Apple Watch contract ended this month and I’m planning to upgrade to series 6. My question is: it’s my serie 3 going to be unlocked? Same as any other phone on ending contract? So I can give the watch to my son so he can use on his phone?

Apple Watches aren't network locked.

I've checked with our device team and they've confirmed that no Smart Watches are locked to our network.

But aren't they sync'd to your phone number? I've just upgraded to the 6 so will my old one 'un-sync'?

EDIT: I've just realised that you can do that on the watch app on the phone! I guess what I want to know is; if I want to sell my watch, is there anything else I need to do other than unsync it from my phone?

If you are looking to sell your old Apple Watch please just ensure it is unpaired from your phone.

This is all you will need to do.
