Key workers and covid

Mobile companies across the country, including EE are doing everything they can for NHS workers and I commend this. But, I am a home Carer with my local council who are in partnership with the NHS. I work in close contact with elderly people in the community who require personal care, meals and medication just as nurses and doctors do in hospitals. The only PPE I have are gloves and aprons, instead of the PPE that hospitals have.
Community carers have been forgotten by the government, and now by mobile phone companies who don’t think a community Carer is as important as the doctors and nurses because they’re not on the front line. Three of the nine people I look after were confirmed with covid while I was their carer. Two of them have since passed away and I’m still working with only gloves and aprons. I’m not asking for discounts or free stuff, I’m looking for recognition for myself and my colleagues who are risking their health with every visit to every elderly persons home. We may not be NHS but we are under the same pressure with even less support. Please don’t forget the men and women who look after your parents in their own home.
We’re working hard to keep your mum, dad, aunties, uncles, grannies and grandads safe and well.

I love this im a key worker in a school. All the teachers never get recognised at all thought this at all when we are there helping people with their children to make sure there able to go to work and yet there is nothing for us (who works in schools) again they say children will pass it on to adults yet we still have to do our jobs and make them children happy everyday. Like you said dont want anything just abit of recognition for us all to.

I'd like to say aswell that yes the NHS workers are doing a fantastic job and totally deserve the unlimited data but my daughter works in a care home caring for the vulnerable elderly as one of the many forgotten front line heroes. She is not part of the NHS. Like many other people I think you could remember them too they deserve some rewards aswell. Nhs workers get an hour in the morning to shop but carers are struggling to be included in that hour.

I understand that its only for the nhs and they are all doing a brilliant job. No one has said it wasn't for them only. But don't you understand where we are coming from?

There is alot of things happening for nhs but yet there are still people out there that are risking there own lives with everything that is going on and yet ee havent considered them at all! Nor the government..... !

People who go food shopping.

Companies can't give freebies to everyone.

We’re not asking for freebies. Refer to my initial post. We just want people to remember that doctors and nurses in the NHS aren’t the only people risking their lives for the good of the country. There are many front line workers who are being forgotten by the government and businesses. I just wanted to remind you.

If you read all of the post on the community site you would notice there is alot of people that will stand by what we are saying. My husband is with virgin he doesnt work for the NHS or key worker but yet got unlimited data! Sky have done the same ect ect. Alot of people with ee will probably change mobile service through this once its over! Alot of people who work for the nhs ( who dont have an email address) dont not get this. Bloody ridiculous! There are people in the same boat and yet dont get help with anything.... just alittle recognising wouldnt go a miss.

To be honest companies don't have to give anything. This is a bad pandemic yes.

But companies still need to make money or otherwise they won't be round for long.

EE are offering it to NHS workers and that's it. NHS workers are on the actual front line working with petients who have Covid 19.

My old bosses daughter works in ICU. If you seen the pictures I have you'll understand.

Please tell me to whom on here has asked for anything other then recognition? No one has asked for data i was just stating the obvious..... yet there are companies that are going above and beyond to help those who needs help. The funniest thing is as iv stated in my last post. (People who work for the nhs with no email address DONT GET DATA still and they work for the nhs) i inderstand itmust be very hard and definitely difficult for everyone who works in hospitals but yet no one again has considered those other FRONT LINE WORKERS that again are doing there job and are also putting there life at risk!

NHS workers are not the only people on the front line working directly with people who have covid. I refer you again to my original post. I gave personal care to three elderly people who had covid and my PPE requirements were disposable aprons and gloves. Carers in nursing homes are looking after elderly residents with covid and have the same incomplete PPE. We are only asking for the same recognition as NHS staff. Nothing more.

Because the offer is for NHS staff with an NHS email.

NHS have incomplete PPE as well.
