Registering for the App (and billing etc)

Hi - i've been with EE for a few months now. I'm told that I cannot register my phone within the EE app as migration with old BT accounts is taking 'longer than expected'. No indication of when this issue will be fixed. As this has been going on for ages now, and doesn't look like it will be resolved soon, will it be possible to leave my account without penalty?
