I know there are a few threads on here regarding EE and their roaming partners in Germany.

A couple of years ago they partnered with the excellent Telekom (Formerly T-Mobile) network in Germany but in recent years switched to o2-de who provide not only sparse coverage but a poor data connection. The backup network was Vodafone.de who provided excellent coverage but only an Edge service which isn’t that helpful.

I explained this problem to EE’s head office and I have to give them credit, they understood the problem and they allowed me to exit my contract as they understood that this was important to me as I spend a lot of time in Germany and it does affect my connectivity.

There is only one network that roams with Telekom and ironically that is O2-UK! Their first choice is o2-de but they allow a manual connection to Telekom and they give not a 4G but a 5G service!!! In addition to they O2-UK don’t charge roaming fees, so to everyone else that has this problem this is the answer.

I’ve not written off EE, they give excellent service and I’ll keep my childrens phones with them. I’d also go back to them if they sort this not but for now this is the solution I would recommend to all Business people going to Germany 🇩🇪.
