Good morning. I have a question about an upcoming holiday I have.

We are going to USA and Canada so will purchase the roam further add on to enable me to use my minutes/texts/data whilst away.

Also, we are doing an Alaska Cruise, how does the data etc work whilst at sea? Will the roam further add on cover us for this as well ?

Don't want to receive any unwanted fees.

Enjoy your holiday when you go.

Hi @Shaynemawer

That sounds lovely! As long as you're connected to a US/Canadian network, it will be as if you're on land. If you connect to a Maritime network, it may be a bit more expensive.

If the ship has WiFi, I would recommend using that for your data where possible.

been looking into the ships wifi package.

I'll prob make sure my phone is set to airplane mode for when we are not in port, that will save connecting to Maritime Network.

Is there anyway to tell if you do accidently connect to Maritime Network's?.

Look at the name of the connected network operator on your phone. It should be self evident.

If you have not paid for a package for data, then you will not get charged, as it cannot use data without a package, although you can still make and receive calls, but make sure that you have a package set for that, at least, that is how it worked for me, at least.

Also worth checking your Phone's Frequency Bands. USA. Canada and Alaska can be a bit challenging if the Phone isn't a truly Global Version.
