Hi @russellwturner

Welcome to the community.

I'm sorry to hear that you've received a call and an email purporting to be EE. I recommend following @XRaySpeX's advice posted above. If you have any concerns about the security of your account, I recommend speaking with our customer support team again, so they can check everything from our side for you.

Chris

EE Security Breach?

Sim Card fraud and more.

So not only did I receive a call regarding a sim upgrade and the usual chit chat. But they were able to send a request for a password change that came through on the email they held for me. Not only did the email look legitimate, it actually shows as coming from the exact same email that the legitimate email from EE comes from when I request a password change directly myself. The same fraudsters texts come through the same text stream as EE's.

EE have no record of these messages ever being sent but the text details, the email details are identical in every way other than coming from EE.
<LI-SPOILER>Now to me this suggests that if EE don't know where these messages and emails are coming from while using their details, their identical emails that it is EE and their system that have a security problem!!</LI-SPOILER>
While the EE advisor that I spoke to regarding the call and security was very helpful in some ways, there was no genuine way that I could tell here apart from the fraudsters other than her recommendation to notify the bank.

She appeared completely unaware that EE may have a massive issue.

It's easy to spoof an email address, you'll need to look into the headers and see where it's come from. Receiving a near identical email does not imply EE have a security problem.
