Hi how can I add roaming to my account, I’m in Sri Lanka. Please help me to activate my data roaming. Thank you

Data roaming is a phone setting which merely allows the use of mobile data whilst roaming.

Roaming is an account-setting which enables access to foreign networks and is thus crucial to having coverage abroad. If you're on PAYG, this is auto-enabled on first use in the UK.

Regardless of any billing add-on, your ability to get coverage abroad (which calls, texts & mobile data rely on) is dependent on roaming being activated - which allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.

On pay-monthly, this needs to be enabled manually - usually by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK. Did you do this?

If you now find yourself abroad without having enabled roaming, your only recourse will be to contact CS to request it activated. You can either contact +44 7953 966150 from another working phone, or +44 800 0798586 using a web-calling app such as Skype over WiFi.

Outside the EU, you cannot use your usual UK allowances there but will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs/countries/srilanka.

If you are on contract, remember to text ROAMING to 150 before you leave UK to ensure the roaming ability is enabled on your account.

If you are on PAYG, make sure you have used your PAYG SIM to make a call or text in the UK.

Hi, would CS still help to activate roaming if I have not done it whilst in the UK? I am overseas now and using PAYG, and want to activate roaming.

@AsifValli : Had you used that PAYG SIM for making calls or texts in UK before going abroad? To be used abroad EE PAYG SIMs need 1st activating on EE's home UK network. If it wasn't you can't now use it until you return to UK.
