Someone has the same phone number as me

Hi,

I'm getting numerous of phone calls from the same person, I have blocked the number, but I have checked the history and this number still rings me from time to time. Today I have unblocked this number - the person said that actually it helped her to get in touch with another person as she has the same phone number. While I block this number she is able to get into other person with the same phone number. Hows that actually possible? Can we please do something about that.

Hi @JoWa

The short answer is that this is not possible, and if it were - then when you blocked this caller, this would have made no difference to their ability to contact the correct person.

Blocking is a handset-level function, the EE network still continued to route calls from this person to your phone regardless of whether the call rang on your device or was dumped to voicemail.

I've read that this has been happening with some people even here in EE community. I'm getting sometimes text from their bank in regards to some transaction. Also phone number which I have blocked and was responding me via text still keep calling me. Why they would do that if not to get an answer from someone else?

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

As @bristolian mentioned earlier, it isn't possible for two lines to be active with the same telephone number.

You may be a victim of caller ID spoofing. Please see Call spoofing for more details.

I've read that.. just the weird thing is this person actually replies to my text, also says its helpful I blocked her number as then she can get to the right person. All seems odd..

Yes, the person you are texting may not be genuine @JoWa

I'd recommend continuing to block the number.
