Not receiving text messages

I have not been able to receive text messages for the past month. I am not able to receive from people, OTP, or even texting myself. Trying to contact EE on the phone is impossible as every option says they will send me a text message (not really helpful).

I have tried the usual things of restarting, put sim in another phone, etc.

Any help would be appreciated as i ended up missing an important message as i didn't receive their text.

It's the text message to yourself failing, that's the "killer blow" here.

If you've not done so already, please try turning your phone totally off for a 10minute period - and call yourself in that intervening period. Make sure that you leave a voicemail in order to trigger the notifications.

If issues persist and you need to report the fault to CS, don't bother with the "visual service" on option 1, go straight for option 2.

Are you on EE PAYG or pay monthly contract.
Are you in the UK.

If you're using EE SMS gateway then the number is +447958879879 under message settings.

This highlights a good point. If the OP can't send text to themselves, I have assumed the message shows "sent" on their phone proving the SMSc/sending as not being the issue

Definitely worth clarifying whether the message is not sending, or sending but not being received.

Unfortunately I have VM turned off. Obviously i'm not able to turn it on as the texts do not work. I will give CS a call if i'm unable to resolve it

It is a Motorola G84, sim only monthly, in the UK

I have managed to find the SMSC on my phone and the number is +44798879879

FYI you have a short time after posting to edit, negating the need for multiple short replies.

If your phone says "message sent" after sending a text, then sending is self-evidently not the issue. Try the 10minute total-detach, with an incoming call & text tested during the off-time. Just make sure there's something being sent to your phone when it intentionally can't reach - and thus has something queued for when you turn the phone back on and reattach.
