Hey @Profile closed, if you purchased a physical SIM from another network and swapped this with a physical EE SIM whilst away, then there's definitely no way that the calls could come from the EE number.

In the OP's instance it sounds like the EE SIM was still set as the primary number, so this is where the international calls came from, but this is something that can be changed in the handset settings.

You're absolutely right that the safest way of ensuring no charges are made from the EE line would be to swap SIMs, though.

I have an EE physical sim and purchased a Vodafone prepaid eSIM while in Australia in December

The eSIM included international calls, So was happily making calls to UK. I have just Checked my latest bill from EE and I have been charged for the calls I made from my Vodafone eSIM

Mobile data was turned off for my EE sim and my default voice line was set as the Vodafone Australia number.

Any ideas why I have been charged by EE, when I was operating on my eSIM?

Any call that's been charged on your EE line, must have been made using your EE SIM.

Indeed @Profile closed, that's the downside to swapping SIMs outright as opposed to changing the primary number settings.

When you have both active at once, you can set for calls to come from the international number, but it doesn't prevent you receiving calls and texts on your UK number whilst you're away.
