When a voicemail is left, the source of the voicemail is immaterial to any notification that the recipient gets.

If text notifications are enabled, they get one. If notifications are disabled, they don't. The voicemail spool icon appears regardless.

A 020 number has been calling me and leaving voicemails, I blocked the number however they are still able to leave voicemails. I’ve sent a text to say they have the wrong number but it’s possible this isn’t a mobile user. Please help

More than possible; it's certain that a 020 no. is a landline. But so what? Landlines can receive texts either directly or as Text to Speech.

This is normal. Blocking a number prevents your phone from ringing an incoming call from them, or receiving a text message.

An incoming call that is blocked, will divert straight to voicemail - the caller will be able to leave a message if they so desire.

From the voicemails it sounds like an elderly man so I’m not sure he’s going to be able to figure out how to receive a text on his landline. I just want to know how I can stop him from continually ringing

You can't stop someone from calling you, neither can you stop callers leaving voicemails. Aside from asking the person in question, and them following your instructions.

You can stop calls from blocked numbers from ringing on your phone, which is what's happening.

Is there really nothing anybody can suggest? The phone calls have continued for the last 5 days. Always around the same time. I have answered the calls and told the person they have the wrong number, the person on the other end of the phone sounds like an old confused man who responds “sorry I’m so sorry” when telling him he has the wrong number however the calls and subsequent voicemails have continued. EE have said there is nothing they can do but this is really becoming unnerving.

No network operator can stop an individual from calling your number, unless you want to take the malicious calls route - and potentially involve the Police.

That’s a difficult one. My father when he was in a care home, mid 80’s, dementia setting in, living in a small room, used to get comfort from playing with his mobile phone. He always liked computers and tech. He managed to regularly phone one of his granddaughters and when she answered he’d say, “It’s so good of you to phone” and repeat throughout the conversation. His eyesight had all but gone, so I suspect he just liked holding the phone and probably pressing buttons and managed to press the “last number” button.

He’s long dead now, so it was one of the ubiquitous Nokia phones around at the time. My niece told me she got these calls from him regularly and had given up telling him that he had phoned her. It was nice and sad in equal measure.

Sorry I’ve not directly answered your question, but I think these calls aren’t malicious. Just some confused, lonely guy.
