Scam call with a sinister twist

Just received a call from number 07556 810639 claiming he was from EE offering an iphone upgrade but knew it was a scam straight away especially as he used cell phone instead of mobile. When I challenged him as a scammer & asked to confirm who he was from he weirdly said he was calling from my bedroom as he was with my mother. Very upsetting as my mother passed away 18 months ago. Normally when challenged they just disconnect the the call but this was a whole new sick response. Please beware.

Welcome to the community.

I'm really sorry to hear that you had this experience, it must have been very upsetting for you.

I recommend blocking the number and sending a text message saying 'CALL' to 7726 followed by a space, then the number that called you. It will be investigated by a security team.
