Dialling 2662 from EE number

I accidentally dialed 2662 from my EE number while trying to find a contact. It immediately connected to what sounded like a football commentary feed. Anyone heard of this before? I tried it on my O2 number and it said the number was not recognised. but it worked for EE.

LOL, Same here. How Bizarre. Its from a Championship game on the 23rd April 2023.

Turns out 2663 and 2664 (amongst others) also give football news and results. Fair enough, but old tech for 2023. Why?

Someone has said that when they used to do cellular network tests they would often setup a short-code network-specific number and use the audio output from a radio to simulate voice traffic, usually chose Radio 5 since it was almost entirely live, speech-based content.
