Yes, that is what we did for some time, until I forgot for 5-6 months and we
lost our numbers. To contact EE from Australia I call 44 8000798586, and the
people that I get on the phone are very helpful. These are the people
keeping my phone alive until I can get back to the UK in Sept and get the
phone working again.

Good luck with your issue.

Glenn

I have the same problem. Haven't sent text message in months, had a need too today. Sent 1 message and 2 pics, fine. Then tried to send a short follow up and get error 0 apparently according to EE sms my account has been restricted. How can 1 SMS and 2 pics eat up all the allowance on a package that allows unlimited calls. I urgently need to send a follow up message. I can make calls, I have signal, I have restarted the phone twice. EE used to be great, now getting anything is impossible.

Hi Expatal,

My issue was that I changed from monthly payments to pay as you go. However,
I made the change Sept 10 2023 and then left the UK Sept 17. The change did
not take effect until the end of my billing period which was Oct 4, when I
was on a ship between Vancouver and Hawaii. What I did not know and EE did
not tell me was that you have to be in the UK and connected to the network
for the change to take place. When we got to Australia we could not use out
phones at all, no texts, no phone calls.

The solution has been to call EE every month to see if our phones were still
active and once they went to restricted (due to lack of use), to have them
reactivated again.

When we get back to the UK Sept 2024 our phones will connect with the EE
network and our change to pay as you go will be effective.

Glenn

Thanks but that's not the issue with ours, was pay as you go but has been contract since October. Was abroad for 16 years and kept the number just sending an sms from another number every 3/4 months
