What about them? Do you have a query about call charges?

Numbers prefixed 03x are landline numbers in exactly the same way as those prefixed 01x or 02x - call charges are also the same.

Looks like 0 is typo, how about number starts with 0843 and 0845?

@MikeWarner1 : Which nos. are you enquiring about? 08 nos. are service nos. & are charged quite heavily. 03 no. are charged just like 02 & 03 nos and are included in your calls allowance if you have 1.

Hi, my question is: Why am I being charged for accidently answering the 0843 number, on an iPhone 12 it only gives you to option to 'decline' if you have another application open on your phone - if you have no application open there is No option to decline the call, other than let it continually ring or apparently press the buttons on both sides of the phone to delete, which can accidently also answer the call. What can an iPhone 12 user do, I keep blocking these numbers but are still receiving several a week - with a potential charge for accidently answering! is there any solution?

You are only charged for receiving calls whilst roaming. Many of these scams rely on your phone receiving a missed call, and the user calling the number back and incurring call charges as a result.

hi, thanks Bristolian for your reply, the roaming tip was useful so I just double checked - But my roaming is set to 'off' so not because of that, and I know the 0843 numbers are scams so I never call back and block them back - so I am unsure why almost every month I'm receiving a charge from EE for these numbers.

I intrigued how it works if you accidently answer one why does if charge the person who answers, all other calls work by charging the person making the call!

This is exactly how telecoms charging works - the exception being incoming calls whilst roaming abroad.

If you have a dispute with any of your charges, you should raise those via CS on 150.

@GillyLee : In the UK & EU you are not charged for answering any calls, even 08 ones.

@GillyLee : Where are you, in UK or roaming? If in UK your roaming settings are irrelevant.

Thank you for your reply XRaySpeX, I am using my phone in the UK. Further to the comments on here that there should never be a charge for incoming calls, I will raise a dispute with EE on the charges on my bill, as I never answer 0843 numbers, and certainly do not ring them. If I receive one I decline or let it ring until it stops, yet many months I am charged for at least one 90p charge for these numbers. Many thanks for your response and for your assistance,
