HI@FifeFlyer

So you want to activate a roaming pass on Thursday, cancel it immediately, then go on holiday on Friday?

If you do that, you will likely pay £25 and only have roaming pass till the end of the billing period.

If your holiday spans two billing periods, you add it on Thursday. Go away on Friday, and remove it when you get back. You will pay a prorated amount in month 1 and £25 for month 2. The most you could end up paying if you do this is therefore £50.

So, I go away on Friday. If I activate roaming pass tomorrow (Thursday) and end it right away, I will get a month of EU roaming and will cost no more that £25, regardless if I`m split between 2 billing periods?

Am I understanding that correctly?

The answer depends when your monthly bill cycle runs from - this is the date your bills are produced.

For any days between activation of a roaming pass and your bill date, these charges are pro-rata'd. Once the pass is on your account, it remains active & charged until the end of the relevant bill cycle. Thus the daily charge may be cheaper - depending when you are travelling and when your bill cycle is.

Regardless of which billing option you choose, remember to enable the free roaming facility by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK. This unlocks access to foreign networks, and without this your phone won't have coverage abroad.

Thanks for the replies.

That just confirms I wish I`d stayed with BT. Potentially I can pay £50 for a £25 service???? Hahaha what a joke. EE are absolutely shocking.

You may find the daily £2.47 charge more cost-effective.
