I had a text from an alleged EE number with an apparent EE verification code

So today I received a text message from a 5 didget number claiming it was an EE verification code, I've never requested one before nor have I had one, I'm not sure weather it is a scam or not, or wether it's generally from EE or not.

I've just recently upgraded my phone if that helps

Can you post the exact text of the message you received, and the number it was sent from?

With details of the message, others on here may be able to advise further.

The number it came from was 62884 and the message was. Your EE verifications code is .....

I don't want to give the code I received due to not knowing if it's genuine or not

They die out anyway after at most an hour.

It probably is real, i get messages from them all the time for different apps and it works

The only benefit I can see that a scammer would have to gain from sending an OTP (One Time Password) out, is if they wanted to use said code to access your account. So don't give that code to anyone who asks, unless you know specifically who is asking for it, and why.
