Phone call from EE is it a scam?

Received a phone call from 01942 901130

based in Wigan, England.
when looked up number. Has rang multiple of people and states this is not a verified number to EE. Offering deals and asking for account information
wondering if this is a scam.

@Amygutt I don’t think EE has anything in Wigan. Sounds like a scam to me and never give account information to anyone who’s called you not just EE but anyone.

May not be a scam, just an unscrupulous dealer trying to get some commission by mis-representing themselves, who knows.

That said, even if it was EE, my general rule is never deal with anyone that cold calls you. Hang up, and if interested, contact them.

I think your find that call was actually EE, that number Called me around a week ago regarding my current Loyalty Discounts, they had all of my EE Account Details without me having to give them anything other than 2 digits from Passcode as per normal ......but you never know.

On the Passcode malarkey, a common scam trick is where they ask for say, the 2nd and 3rd Characters then followed moments later, something like, No that didnt work, systems a bit slow today, lets try again, can I have the 1st and 4th Characters.

If you are in total doubt, as @chistery says ask for there Name and Dept and call back on a known EE Number.

This is a scam.

EE do not make unsolicited phone calls as advised by one of their call centre operatives.

I'm the same. Same number 01942901130. I have received 7 calls today from him asking for identification info. A very childish man offering new deals and personal information who clearly needs to get an honest job. seems to be linked to an ID scam linked to EE online

Received 3times and its not connected with EE it a marketing cold call I just declined the call and blocked

I’ve had it this week too. I’m sure it’s a scam so I blocked them. They knew my name and that I was an EE pay as you go but the first 5 digits tell them EE and 50:50 guess in contract or pay as you go

Just had a call from an EE call centre in Wigan. Don’t think they’re real but if this a scam it’s particularly longstanding. Surely EE have the resources to shut this down?

I've had numerous calls from this number, today I answered it cautiously after previously reading these comments. it is indeed EE, I got them to send me a confirmation text which popped into my existing EE text message history. It's basically EE asking if you'd like any of their special offers that you're eligible for.

It is a scam, they have a second person on the phone to EE trying to access the pin. They speak to EE, they send a pin to you which then looks like the caller you are speaking to sent the message. I have spoken to EE today and logged this.

This is definitely a scam.

He asked for the second and fourth letters from my password and when I refused he asked me what type of Samsung phone I have - which I don't. I put the phone down. I wonder if they've got hold of a list of names and numbers but not passwords.
